I have recently been contacted by someone in Douala who wishes to purchase one of my UKC Registered purebred Bluenose American Bullys. I came to this site to attempt to get information on pet import requirements to Douala, Cameroon. Then I ran across all the scam comments and thought to myself, why are these people falling for these scams? Just fyi, it is very expensive to ship a puppy or any pet internationally. We are talking in the range of $900-$1700 USD just for the flight alone, not to mention the vaccinations, permits and required testing. If someone is telling you some cheaper price, question it. Never send payment via western union, money gram, money order, personal check, cashiers checks, etc. Use a safe and reputable service like PayPal, who will do the currency conversion and payments are secure and recorded. Also, most purebred animals are expensive. If you are finding a really cheap deal, it's a scam. Do not be fooled by them acting as if they are worried so much about the animal, and/or using God's name to make them sound honest and sincere. If you are looking for a good purebred pet, the United States has plenty of reputable breeders, and you will need to pay for them adequately. Another issue is disease. Animals coming from other countries may bring diseases unknown to the US. It is not a good idea to go for a cheap easy deal. If you do find a reputable breeder in another country, I guarantee it is going to cost a pretty penny for all required tests, vaccinations, and permits, plus the flight to get a pet imported. Be aware! If it seems too good to be true, it is!

I was going to adopt two ferret kits from a women in Los Angeles. Then she changed her story and said she had moved to Cameroon and has the kits with her and needs to rehome. Said I would pay adoption fee and that would cover the flight. Too weird. Glad I stumbled on this site. I am playing along right now and asked if I could pay the fee on delivery and she said that would be okay. Now I am waiting to here where she wants me to send the money. So sad that people are doing this.

I even got her to send me phone numbers cause i didn't beleive her and I reached someone at +23796646716 and he said that his name was Mr. Tom Smith and he was the General Manager in the Pet Department at Douala Airport. He told me that the flight time for these puppies was 3 hours and 27 minutes from Africa to Alberta Canada. That is funny considering they are half way around the world. BEWARE if it doesn't sound right it isn't!

they then requested urgent refundable insurance of $1200. pffft!!! There excuse for giving away this 12wk old puppy was because the owner had died the daughter needed to get rid of the dogs because of memories

wow! it looks like im reading my story over and over again. i too found a ad on ebay for maltese puppies "FOR FREE" from a man named HERON WILLIAMS he claimed to be from pennsylvania and in cameroon trying to adopt a child and that he had bought the two puppies for this child he was trying to adopt but to only find out that the child preferred birds not dogs. so he was trying to send them to good homes. and all we had to do was send them money to fly the dog to the us. so we pay him $120 so ship the puppy then we get a email from the shipping company saying they need a $500 crate fee that will be refunded when we pick up the puppy...so our dumb asses sent them the $500 and the puppy was to be sent to london due to no direct flights from cameroon to the us so the next morning we get a email from the shipping company saying that while in london they did not have thier permits together so they had gotten fined by the customs people at the london airport and they needed us to send another $1250 to help pay for the fine that would be refunded to us when we picked up the puppy. thats when we drew the line. and they are so persistent they are still calling and asking if i am sending them the money. they made it all seem very official. the shipping company even had a website animalkingdompetmovers.tk and the mans email is herondodo@yahoo.com and he even sent me a copy of his "supposed" pennsylvania drivers license. and they are now sending emails saying that tomorrow is the last day the london airport will hold the puppy from there it will be sent to a shelter somewhere in london then put to sleep! i cannot find no proof of anything these people are saying i ask for airway bill numbers and they dont reply but if i say i have the money they want they call and email me NON STOP! this is complete bullshit. if anyone knows any legal action that i can take please tell me. my email is ogbsbm@yahoo.com i am just glad i found this site before i sent anymore money to these people. i have learned a very expensive lesson. i hope this keeps someone else from losing so much

we are two girls of 17 and 15,
we were looking for cheap chihuahua's
and we found a guy who said he was living in Amsterdam (we live in Belgium) and was giving it away for free in really bad dutch..
He said he was transported to Cameroon for his work and couldn't take care of them anymore but in the next mail he was all the sudden already in Cameroon and he would put the dog (called Terry) on a plane, we had to give €150 but first €60 so and the rest we had to pay after words...
He was also calling us every 5 minutes asking about the money. After we transfered the money with western union he said he putted the dog on the plane and he was sending us the hours when Terry would arrive..
The next morning my sister and I were very excited because the dog would be deliverd at our home at 11 am.
but then we got a mail from the airport..
A really fake one asking us for €580 for the insurence fee, but in mean time "Romeo"(the scammer) was calling my mom to ask her if we had the dog.
My mom said no and all the sudden he asks do you have an email of the airport ? (how could he know that??)
Of course he send the mail by himself!
In 5 minutes we had 4 emails from the airport that we had to give the money in 48 hours.
I sended the mail to 'romeo' and he said that he would sell his cellphone and laptop and that would be €300..
And he begged us for the other €280..
But we didn't paid anything and we wanted to look on the website of the Douale Airport and came out on this forum.
we saw all the stories who are quite similar as our..
So we are happy we only lost €60 and we hope we will learn from our mistakes!

i sent out for a teacup Yorkie. the man, who was a christian, said that he could ship me the dog today. he wanted 100$ for the full thing. i got him to make the deal that i send $50 before i got the dog, and the rest once i get the dog. once all that was set, i got an email from the airport saying that i need a refundable insurance fee. since then i am going to call the air port and talk to the airport, and see what is up. the dog was to be shipped today, and now i dont know what is going to happen, always should have known, listen to your elders.

I recieved that same email for flight confirmation that was so flashy that made me start to wonder. Now they are trying to tell me they are going to come after me for pet abuse! She said her son has cancer and she needs the money to send the puppies. We searched some information and verified this is a fraud. My girlfriend and I had an ad on Kijiji stating we wanted a Great Dane pup. This "Christian" woman, named Clara Edwin and her husband Mbuh Edwin, emailed us stating she had a male and a female pup she wanted to give away to a good home FOR FREE, because she was moving for her job. We were scepticale right away, 2 Danes puppies, free, with 150.00$ fee from Camerron to Canada..hmmm..I emailed her a nasty email, stating if this was a scam in any way, to be ready for legal action. She stated over and over to trust her and so on. She kept pushing us to send the money Western Union, and if we felt more comfortable sending it to the airport instead of her, to do that. We said we'd think about it, and the next morning the "Airport" emailed us a "confirmation" about the puppy at the sirport. The email was colored texts with graphics. Another throw me off, what kind of airport send that kind of emails? I demanded the email of the air port and when I Googled it, I found this site, with all this feedback and said forget it!!! We told her to leave us alone, we were'nt interested, and blocked everything from them. They took advantage of how much we wanted this puppy, and just be aware, these people are thieves, right from the "Christians", to the people working at the airports!! Thank God we realized before we sent any money, but we were so close!!! It scares us still to think about it. Glad to say, we found a breeder close by, and have had our Great Dane pup for a week now :) BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am from Texas and saw this ad in our News Paper saying this lady was moving and needed to find homes for her 4 Teacup Yorkie's.Turns out she lived here in Douala, Cameroon....her name is "Nancy Jone". I was told all i had to pay was for his flight which was $285. So i sent that to her, I had even received a confirmation from AirFrance regarding his flight. Well the next day i received an email from AirFrance stating they could not release the dog to the USA because he was missing some documents. I forwarded the email to the lady and she responded back saying to get these documents it was going to cost $325. She said she would put in half if i could put in the other so I did. I sent her $160.....she said she took care of the documents, got them faxed over to the airline and we were waiting on confirmation. Well she got confirmation and emailed me stating they needed an additional $200 to renew his flight. I told her I had no more money to send her and thought this was getting out of control. Somehow she managed to come up with $110 and asked if i could send $90.....again i did so. Once she renewed his flight and got confirmation she sent me an email saying his flight was renewed but they were asking for a refundable $300 for insurance. At this point im fed up......I started to do some research and led me here. I started reading all the feedback and now i feel so stupid!!! I truly trusted this lady.....she also said she was a Christian and was looking to find a Christian home for her puppies. What a load of CRAP.....she will get whats coming to her. I am a firm believer in Karma......all I have to say is MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON HER!!!!!

Its a hame that custom and the so called forces of law and order put at the airport to protect travelers are mostly a gang of thieves. They find every lame excuse to extort money from people coming into the country or traveling abroad. Where did these guys receive their training. If the Cameroon government refuses to put an end to the bribery and corruption going on at the airport, it means that they find nothing wrong with corruption, as the money eventually end up in their private pockets. Please wake up. You can do better.

DLA airport is a typical African airport - full of thieves, corrupt customs, gendarmes and police officers who are absolutely interested in stealing from air travellers. The use od any lame excuse, such as not having the yellow innoculation card issued by the Cameroon medical staff is cause enough to land you in trouble and be prepared to pay bribes to these poorly paid officials.
Every time I travel throught the african continent, my pulse and heart rates almost double. I do travel extensively around the world and especially across the African continent. Always have spare cash (change) in hand. It will certainly prove handy.
