Is PSE airport getting funding for improved lighting and signage?

I embrace the option to fly into PSE, because my parents reside there. I don’t mind the early morning arrival/departure time, as it beats flying into SJU and having to Uber or cab into Ponce.

I hope Mercedita (PSE) gets better lighting and signage. Currently (9/30/23), it’s dark and difficult to drive into and out of the airport.

Why so early in the morning I'm a senior citizen and usually traveling alone it would be nice if it left Orlando 8or9in the morning not 1am or 4.its so dark when we arrive in Ponce.

To help answer some of the questions...here is my feedback.

Why are the flight so early in the morning?

It is mainly due to the fact that the runway cannot support the type of aircraft used (A320) due to higher temperatures and humidity during the day horus...this degrades aircraft performance so planes would have to be weight-limited which would negate whatever profitability JetBlue may get.

Why does the government not allow other airlines to fly to/from Ponce?

The government is not stopping other airlines from flying in/out of PSE, it comes down to economics and supply and demand. To put it simply, there isn't enough demand. Delta flew from ATL and made no money, Continental (now United) flew out of EWR, made no money as Jet Blue already flies out of JFK...just not enough demand folks.

Even JetBlue as the only carrier struggles to make profit on the routes (JFK and MCO)...so enjoy while you can because I would not be surprised if JetBlue pulls out or reduces the number of flights.

As far as the airport, it's average at best, I've flown out of there 3-4 times and while not as organized as say SJU, it works for me. I don't expect the management to invest heavily since there is no guarantee that even JetBlue will stay.

In the end, it's about economics.

No food. No pop. Nothing but worm water. Air conditioner not Working. Floors dirty. Next time I go to SJ and drive to Ponce. Worth airport ever.

I have use this airport several times to travel to the town of juana diaz, but departing it is the pitts all flights leave very early in the morning as well as arriving flights my question is will there be other airlines beside jet blue to join forces and use this airport also the only other flights I saw landing in this airport were military aircrafts. The goverment need to allow other airlines to use this airport for arrival and departing flights and this airport needs to operate around the clock at all hours not just early mornings

I travel at least four or five times a year to Ponce and I use this airport and is very convenient for me but is an inconvenience on the return flight due to the early hours of the flights departure giving me no other choice to go to San Juan. My question is what are the plans for this airport? will there be more flights and other airlines?

I TRAVEL THRU THIS AIRPORT FRECUENTLY. THE SERVICE IS QUITE GOOD. TAKE ALL VALUABLES IN CARRY ON LUGGAGE.VERY CONVINIENT IF YOUR TRAVELLING TO THE SOUTH OF THE ISLAND.

I love traveling true this airport the only problem so many people travel true Ponce and they only have one flight at night and one early in the morning the should at list add a earlier flight and a later flight in the day other than that I don't have a problem

i agree is a good airpport ,but they have to do something about the lighting on the road to the airport,,,,,,its too dark ,and with the high crime rate in the island ,,,its dangerous at night

I love Mercedita Airport because it is a regional airport, easy to fly from there and to arrive at this airport. It is a very convenience airport for all the people like me who lives in the south area of Puerto Rico. I hope JetBlue continues all its flights at this airport. Very good service.

The airport is great and the service is excellent, but the jetblue airline should have more employees to take care of the people traveling from the airport to USA. A few weeks ago I was there and during the emergencies of the hurracane they only had one employee to take care of the people claiming, Our flight was cancelled twice. Believe me, it was a very, very long waiting.

Be very careful of your luggage I had my cell phone taken from me somewhere between check in and TSA my bag was searched and my phone was taken. take any valuables with you on board.

I just my bags in early and when I got home my mp3 player was missing plus the bag it was in, they took out the case for the mp3 player and left in my bag and even took the charger which was in a separte bag, Plus digital camera
