I travelled back to New York via Abu dahbi on July 5th 2014 from Lahore and purchased the ticket way in advance on expedia.com. At the itehad counter I was asked to pay airport tax (1200 rs/person, which I refused). They said its a new law and all pole departing from country should pay the tax. I had to fight a battle as I couldn't find any info online about this new rule and also as I was one of the few first to check in, I heard them deciding rigt there to charge the tax for this flight. I think it's another way of ripping the passengers but sadly except for me and 2 more foriegners, everybody payed without much complaining. My stance was, if it's a new law it should apply to all tickets that are bought after the law validity date and itehad should cover the loss for previously purchased tickets(if it's actually a law and itehad/airport authorities decided to do it to cover some losses). I was given some attitude by some staff but i didn't budge. I told them that I don't have any money and bill me the difference and I will dispute with expedia. Eventually they ended up letting me cuz I guess they knew I would not budge. It was not about the money cuz once they printed my boarding card with sour faces, I paid the porter the same amount if money, they were asking for. Not sure if it was about end of my vacation and missing the family but this really pissed me off ;)

I went there 10 years ago and promised myself never again - unfortunately have to go there again but I think I will end up slapping someone if they ask for my money again - Pakistani airports are full of chor and piss takers.

I travelled to Lahore from Chicago (USA) in December 2021 and was extremely disappointed with the poor service, corrupt practices and bad manners of the Lahore airport employees. I felt harassed and humiliated.
On my departure 10 days later I experienced even more harassment and humiliation. Ashamed of being a Pakistani I returned to the Western hemisphere..my home for the last 46 years.
I implore the authorities to raise the level of service to international standard that the airport was built for and to honor the name of Sir Ilama Iqbal. I am a coach for Problem Solving..I train personnel to solve problems. The problems at the airport can be solved very easily and You are welcomed to contract me this summer to come improve the services to international standard. My children, siblings and all friends travelling to Lahore complain about the same issues at the airport.
So, Please let me come and resolve this issue for you.
